On the 13th July 2007, we joined another paranormal group for an investigation at a well known historic location in North Buckinghamshire.

Although not a Paranormal Reason investigation, we had an interesting evening and both of us felt that it would be worthwhile posting up our notes on the website as a record of the time we spent there:

The Location

Laura's notes:

Date : Friday 13th July

Location: Historic Building in Buckinghamshire

Group and Team Info : Group - We attended with another group with approx numbers of 23

Team - Both Laura & Mark

We arrived at around 20.30hrs made quick introductions and straight on with opening up and a protection ritual, led by the groups team lead investigator. For this I took part, as I have done many times, although personally I don't feel it does help me open up and protect me. I guess this is probably because this is something that I always do myself anyway, but in a different way to the spiritual white lights and undoing of all chakras etc.

I have tried this method in the past I admit and haven't experienced or felt anything different. I am not saying this is something that doesn't work, it is just something that doesn't make any difference to me. At this point in time, who knows what will happen later down the line, I think what I am trying to say is this method works as a kind of distraction for me. Hopefully this makes sense.

20.50hrs: After people had been divided in to two groups, we were led by team member "J" through the main hallway to the back of the building, through a bar area into a cafe like area.

Behind the counter in the cafe where Laura saw the little boy

20.55hrs Once in this room, I had a walk about the room to see if I could feel / sense anything. I got nothing at all until I got back to the counter area near the door. On the other side of the counter I could see a head and shoulders of a small boy (bearing in mind I was the other side of counter) around the age of about 8-9 yrs and the name Kieran (which I associated to be his name).

Whilst I was looking at him face on I was distracted and my attention was being taken to the right hand side of the room where there was a large set of double doors, with about 3 steps leading down to a room. I wanted to go and sit on the steps all curled up legs pulled into my body and arms wrapped around them on my own. It was as if I was seeing myself sat there in that position, although I was on left hand side of the room.

I tried to see if I could get anything else with this, but I didn't, although after about 10 minutes I did go and sit on the stairs by what I now knew to be the Ballroom, to see if anything happened. I got nothing to be honest, I didn't have any strange feeling in this room apart from feeling like a little dazed and like everyone was a blur. The only other thing I felt in this room was to do with the structure that the wall to the right of the entering door was not original and a dividing wall that would not have been there originally. In the bar area I felt nothing at all.

22.00 (roughly) : We entered the Library on entering the room felt more like a sort of executive office rather than a library to me.

Once lights were turned down and my eyes had adjusted etc., to the far right corner of the room I could picture a man laid in a bed, age of around 50+ years. He looked feverish as if he were nursed in this room until he had died.

Also, in the opposite corner, I could see the back of somebody sneakily stashing what looked like wads of money in the wooden drawers of the shelving - then dodgy dealings came into my mind some kind of money laundering.

At one point I was sat on the back wall seats and Mark was sat about 8 feet away. I looked around the room thinking that apart from what I had already felt / picked up, the place didn't seem very active. Then I noticed in the far corner to me, near the door, was a chair standing alone. This was the only corner that no group member was in.

Me being me, I thought well, I will go and sit in that chair. As I got up, I decided to go over to Mark first to see if he felt / sensed anything. He replied only that he was drawn to the corner, near the door, where the chair sat alone.

I found this a little spooky that I had just been thinking of sitting in that very chair, but thinking back now maybe we were just thinking logically that this was the only corner that no one was in so something may be there lol.

In the upstairs rooms, I didn't feel much to be honest, except that the rooms to the front of the upstairs of the building I got the feeling of children, quite a few, sort of playing in and out of the rooms. We finished the Investigation in the Music room which although nothing was felt or picked up, here I felt comfortable and more welcome in this room and not so much an outsider in possibly someone else's home All in all a quiet night really, activity wise I felt, but did think was a place worth visiting regardless.

"N", a member of the group who knew a lot of the history of the location, did confirm that the boy I had picked up on in the back cafe room, somebody else had picked up on the boy previously.

He could not confirm the man on his death bed in the library that I had seen, but did confirm that he understood and could accept the dodgy dealings and stashing of money.

Big thanx to the group who let us join them for this exclusive location

Mark's notes:

As Laura has already commented, Friday night's investigation at the historic location in Buckinghamshire has been and gone and we even managed to survive the perils of the M1 in both directions, obviously making ourselves stronger people for it in the process, although I'm not sure how much Laura knew about it on the trip back..........................

The investigation was conducted along spiritual lines, as expected, which was a new experience for myself. From a purely scientific perspective, I'm not sure what purpose this served, but it appeared to offer comfort for those who took part to a greater extent.

The assembled masses were split into two teams, Laura and I keeping together, finding ourselves in the second team. Although we visited several locations on site, I will keep my focus on two areas that we found of interest to us both - the Cafe and the Library.

In the failing light, the Cafe was one of the first places that we visited, which seemed to spark off a flurry of activity from the other team members. As we entered the Cafe, Laura sensed a small boy standing behind the serving area. He was eight or nine year old and had dark hair. Laura wasn't able to get much regarding the clothing he was wearing as she could only see him from the shoulders up. (1)

Laura was then drawn to a small set of steps leading down to a double doorway (that we later found to be a side entrance to the Ballroom). The stairs were located immediately to our left as we entered the room. Although Laura was unable to pick anything else up from this area, she did get the impression that the wall was only a dividing wall and not an 'original' part of the fabric. As we continued exploring the room, Laura reported that she felt that she was walking around in a daze - "Everyone is a blur" was her exact words. I myself felt very hot at this point, but I would put this down to the number of people in such a relatively small area.

Later, whilst I was sat in a chair against the serving area, next to the cutlery table, Laura opposite, I suddenly found it difficult to concentrate and focus, the phrase I used at the time to Laura was that "my head was buzzing". By this I meant that my head was full of ideas (for want of a different phrase) and I couldn't select one to focus on.

As we left the Cafe, Laura picked up on the name "Kieran" that was associated with the boy that she had picked up earlier. Laura was keen to emphasize that it was spelt with a "K".

No physical phenomenon was reported by anyone in the Cafe area as far as we were aware. Turning to the Library, I found this to be a much more interesting area.

The Library also doubled up as a lecture theatre and was set up accordingly during our visit.

Seance in the Library

Everyone found a spot where to settle down before the lights went out, Laura in a chair straight opposite the entrance, myself in the front row of seats about three foot away from Laura. Whilst we sat there, Laura reported that she 'felt' that that some "dodgy dealings" had been undertaken in this area in the past, some money has been stashed away in the library and later exchanged. (2)

After this, I got the impression that there was someone stood in the dark corner adjacent to the door. I put this down to a trip of the light, but curiously, independently,

Laura approached me a couple of minutes later and told me that she was being drawn to the very same corner. She was actually on her way to sit in the corner when she stopped to tell me, but was beaten to the spot by another team member.

We discussed if there was anything to make of this, but both felt that it could be just down to the fact that it was the only corner in the room not occupied. Nevertheless, I was certain of what I had (or hadn't) experienced, even if it was just my imagination.

About five minutes later, Laura then thought that she could see the outline of a man's body laid out on a table at the top of the library, in the bay window area. She felt that he was taken ill with fever and placed in the library, where he subsequently passed away. Laura described him as a mature gentleman, perhaps 50+ years old.

Laura asked me if I could see anything similar (to check that it wasn't an optical illusion). I couldn't, but suggested that perhaps the 'silhouette" was caused by the arrangement of table / chairs at that end of the room, but we established that this was in the wrong area to where Laura got the 'vision'.

The investigation continued for the rest of the evening, but from my perspective, these were the only incidents of note during our time there. Overall, an interesting evening. It was a rare pleasure to be able to have the opportunity to investigate such an historic building.

Supplementary notes:

(1) One of the team leaders confirmed that others had picked up on a child in the cafe area on previous visits.

(2) The same team member confirmed that a lot of unsavoury deals had taken place in the Library over the years, although this was not quantified.
